Juan Valdeath The usual description of this band is something along the lines of a Finnish band playing Swedish death metal. There's some truth to that (especially in the guitar tone), but this album has a kind of weirdness to it that seems very Finnish to me (see also Xysma, et al.) Like the weirder Finndeath bands and like Carcass (a very strong influence here), there are some rockin' guitar solos and riffs here along with some grinding riffs. Overall, definitely more Finnish than Swedish.

I rise my hands As brazen sword to bleed Monotonous croone Reaps sorrow from lamented Sweet oblivion stops And I close my eyes In tenebrous history Those swords they'll rust The more I bleed Through me you reign but for I'm myself The more I see For me your moon I shall praise I must seek Another sleep for my scream Round the circle Through, below and between
2.
Smile of angel Is just a vomit of beast And lust of virgin The truth in her dreams Child so fragile Now buried under frost Wander among alive It turned to lost I feast the sun And hail the moon There are my roots Black goat of woods Deep in those fainted eyes The blind gleam of blood... Blood under ice Listen the howling of darkness Feel the freeze and mystique moon You see those shining lights Now life is just blood under ice Looking the children play I smell their flesh And imagine it's taste Nuns I feel the stench Of their cunts Whores of god
3.
Eternia 06:13
Cast your view over eternity For fallen stars as bleeding scars This cosmic sea, flowing particle stream Sun, light and day, moon darkness we pray Prayed for chaos Chaos that turns Turns to black Blackened it burns Set the night To kill the light And sun which bled Is truly dead Razed by the whispers I hear From the unknown but so clear The fission flashed obscure it dashes Refused in fire turns to ashes Bleeched constellations Undressed from their beauty To show how weak you was You dead failed messiah Red glowing skies, souls appear in clouds For thousand pulses Of a million years in darkness Devoured worlds which fire has taken To chant in face of chaos Enthralling with the dreams Achernar Procyon Eternia Belphegor

Unholy Wrath 05:35
Come into our fantasy Veltering in blasphemy Ordinated with secrecy Evil one of us And what you have seen Is what you shall be Through awake through the dream Blood and dead will gleam Thousands of prayers haven't effect Time after time is has repeated Priests hiding behind the Christ Spreading those immortal lies Like a fume to the sky Within the sun spirit evaporates The curse of buried hearts Deserted and dishonoured By lord who is dead How many time Human must be humiliated What's the crime For what we must die ...For what we must die... Utter spirit, in damnation The sacred legend Of crucifixion They cried your will to the sky At the mountain of madness The way to avenge with torture Is to be slayed by love And death is the way to live At the day we die we'll be The angels of graves Don't look back after that portal You have no place to your remorse I've seen your face in celesty Our fallen infernal majesty Shining from enigma Come within us Satan
6.
My lords of war Are the only real (thing) And to kill for need Is what they breed Battle cry Of unholy god Tyrants wrath And rotten blood Teach me The force of hate Black souls Your god they rape H.M.S. No spare for flesh Satan's will Is bless to kill Follow the stream of corpses Follow your bloodred lords Kill to burn forever Bow the weak ones never

Oceans 04:21
Sixteen thousand feet Under watertomb in deep Bloodred lines And screams of drowned Blue inferno Hell for heavens realm Sixteen thousand feet Under watertomb in deep Smile of horror Dark sleep in pain Embrace the oceans Calls my name

I believe in evil In the livelong night Death before dishonour It will never be forgotten In the flames of d***ation I reborn master To the dawn I march In the name of Lucifer You got the reign, Satan My life is my sacrifice Within the evil dreams When life turns towards it's end There's no thoughts Feelinsg cannot reign my mind And soul falls I feel I'm loosing my body for pain Hail Satan, I'm drowning again In my evil dreams I wander in depths Suffered screams from below Within The evil dreams Awakening In dark realms Shadows From beyond Tranquility... Has gone

about

Finnish death metal classic from 1993. Remastered 2020 edition by Dan Swanö. Download includes bonus track "Parting to the Weak Emotion", never before released track from 1992 rehearsal tape.

“Dances from Left album is really solid with lots of cool and unexpected changes, good harmonies, but still really heavy and punishing. You can tell they put a lot of thought into their songwriting, as opposed to just playing fast or slow. It’s interesting to note that they started off with the typical evil lyrics and eventually went in more of an introspective direction, with lyrics clearly disavowing racism and contemplating human nature among other themes. A pretty ballsy thing to do, especially for the time. Nothing but respect from me.”
Chris Reifert (Autopsy) from Book: Rotting Ways to Misery - The History of Finnish Death Metal
